- today! To enroll in the Cadet Corps a candidate must: • Be 18 years old • Resident of NYC • A full-time college student with at least 45 credits and a 2.0 GPA. Students must earn a minimum of 12 credits each semester and be enrolled in a 4-year degree program at an accredited college within NYC, Nassau and Westchester counties • Free of any felony convictions • A US citizen or permanent resident who will become a citizen within 2 years after being appointed BACK TO TOP > To continue in the program a candidate must: • Be enrolled in a 4-year degree program at an accredited college • Maintain the 2.0 GPA and earn a minimum of 12 credits per semester • Take the 1st promotional police officer's exam • Attend monthly training every 2nd Saturday of each month at the Police Academy • Must work full-time during the summer months • All residents must have their US Citizenship within two years of being hired or upon graduation from college, which ever comes first BACK TO TOP > |
